Years ago Tenerife was divided into different “kingdoms” of sorts; Menceyatos. These photos are large statues that stand in the Plaza de Candelaria (church square of Candelaria) just outside the Basilica, they stand as remembrance of the Menceyes of Tenerife. These men formed a large part of Tenerife’s history and I feel they are owed some sort of mention within my piece.
